Mission Statement: To give of ourselves so others may know Jesus Christ.
The young people around the middle school years - 6th to 8th grade -
begin to move from concrete thinking to abstract thinking,
and that is when most people begin to make lifelong faith decisions.
However, not everyone is ready for such a decision at this time of life and few are ready even before 6th grade.
Also, during these middle school years, youth are seeking a sense of belonging.
Belonging to the community of faith is an appropriate response to that development task.
Confirmation in our church for young people (above grade 6) is a process led by the pastor
where the participants look more closely at the Christian faith and what it means to them personally.
At the end of the learning and exploring period,
the youth are given the opportunity to decide to affirm their baptism
and affirm their membership in the church in a service called Confirmation.
If a young person is not baptized, they will be baptized during the service if they choose to take this step.
In a real way, Confirmation is a completion of the act of Infant Baptism.
